Life Groups

You were designed to live in community!

Life Groups meet weekly to encourage, study, pray, serve, and even eat together at our campus and in homes across the Lansing area. Life groups won’t fix all your problems, but they will provide you with strong relationships that push you to deeper levels of faith and discipleship.

Life Group Member Expectations

It is vital for life group members to have a common focus and know how to participate in the life of a group.  Although not exhaustive, this list provides enough structure for those committed to growing in a healthy community.

1.  UNDERSTAND LIFE GROUP PURPOSE

Life groups exist to cultivate relationships that help people grow in Christlikeness.

2.  BE A CONTRIBUTOR, NOT A CONSUMER

Everyone in the group should share ownership. It is not just on the leader to coordinate social gatherings, lead prayer or serve those in need. If something needs to be done, do it. If you’re unsatisfied with the group, talk about it graciously and come up with a plan to improve it.

3. RESOLVE CONFLICT

Commit to resolve conflict in a way that builds up others and honors God. Conflict is an opportunity for us to grow in Christlikeness and show grace to those around us.

4. COMMIT

Real friendships and growth, time, and energy. However, there are appropriate reasons to miss group sessions. Be sure to communicate with your group leader and/or group when you’re unable to attend.

5. ABC + GAG

Keep conversations About Self (share your experiences, not others), Brief (so everyone has opportunity to share), Clean (no profanity or graphic details that may cause others to stumble), and Guard Against Gossip. What’s said in group stays in group. The only exceptions are when something needs to be escalated to a pastor or if someone is attempting to harm themself or someone else.

6. KEEP AN OPEN HAND

Be gracious to one another with disagreements that are not essential to the Christian faith.
